The home for Ellington Ltd's legal documents and the general terms that apply across our Services. Start here, then read the document relevant to you.
In brief
This page brings our legal documents together in one place and sets out the general rules that apply when you use our website, platform, and services. Each document below covers a specific area in detail. Using the Services means you accept these documents, so please read the ones relevant to you — especially the Risk Warning, since the products we offer are leveraged and high-risk.
The full detail lives in each document below. This page holds the general terms that sit across all of them.
In our legal documents, "you" means the client or user, and "Ellington Ltd" means the operator of the platform. When you register for, access, or use any of our Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and the other documents referred to on this page, which together form a binding agreement between you and us.
Because this agreement is legally binding, please read the relevant documents carefully before using the Services. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the Services.
We may update these documents from time to time. Where a change is material, we will give reasonable advance notice and show the date of the latest update. If you continue to use the Services after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms; if you do not agree, you may stop using the Services and close your account, withdrawing your available funds.
Each document covers a specific area: the Terms and Conditions are the master agreement and set out most of your rights and obligations; the Privacy Policy governs personal data; the Risk Warning explains the risks of the products; and the Cookie and AML/KYC policies cover their named areas. Where a specific policy addresses a topic in more detail, that policy applies to that topic. If you ever find an inconsistency between this page and a specific document, the specific document prevails, since this page is a general guide rather than the detailed terms themselves.
The Services are provided by Ellington Ltd (trading as "Ellington Ltd"), a registered International Business Company (IBC) with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Financial Services Authority (SVGFSA) under IBC registration number 12785, and a registered Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) under the Virtual Assets Business Act 2022 (VABA), registration number VABA-2026-0042. Our correspondence address is 275 Slater St. #900, Ottawa, ON K1P 5H9, Canada.
So that you are not misled about the protections available to you, please note the scope of these registrations. Ellington Ltd is subject to applicable AML, counter-terrorist-financing and sanctions obligations in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, including requirements administered by the relevant supervisory and financial-intelligence authorities. Where required by applicable law, suspicious activity reports are submitted to the Financial Intelligence Unit of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Because a significant proportion of our clients are based in the United Kingdom, we also assess our Services against applicable UK financial-crime, sanctions, cryptoasset and financial-promotion requirements. This page does not state or imply that Ellington Ltd is authorised, licensed or registered by the UK Financial Conduct Authority unless such authorisation, licensing or registration has been obtained and is expressly stated by us.
We take the security of your money, assets, and information seriously, and we maintain measures designed to protect them. These include:
How your money and assets are actually held is important, and we set it out honestly: client money and assets are held in accordance with our internal client-money procedures, which may include holding funds with banks, payment service providers, liquidity providers, custodians, or other third-party service providers. Your funds may be exposed to the financial or operational failure of those third parties. Unless expressly stated otherwise, your account is not covered by any deposit-guarantee scheme, investor-compensation scheme, or similar statutory protection.
The protection available to you depends on the regulatory framework that applies, and we do not promise that your funds are protected against every eventuality. Crypto assets in particular are generally not covered by deposit-guarantee or investor-compensation schemes. Please read the fuller detail in Section 22 of our Terms and Conditions and in our Risk Warning.
Our Services are not available in every country. We do not offer them to residents of jurisdictions where doing so would be unlawful or where we have chosen not to operate. Based on our current policy, restricted jurisdictions include:
This list may change, and we may decline or restrict access from any other jurisdiction where the provision of our Services or cryptocurrency trading would be unauthorised or contrary to applicable law as this list may be updated from time to time. The availability of our website in your country does not mean it is lawful for you to use the Services; that responsibility is yours.
To protect the integrity of the market and our other clients, you must not use the Services unlawfully or abusively. Prohibited conduct includes market manipulation (such as spoofing, layering, wash trading, ramping, or quote stuffing), trading on inside information, knowingly exploiting a system error, latency, or a price you know to be wrong, and any use of the platform for money laundering, fraud, or other unlawful purposes.
If we have reasonable grounds to believe you have engaged in such conduct, we may investigate, void only those specific trades genuinely affected by the abuse, suspend the account, and report the matter where the law requires. We will not treat ordinary, legitimate trading — including profitable trading or the normal use of permitted strategies — as abusive, and any action we take will be proportionate and explained. Fuller detail is in Section 19 of our Terms and Conditions.
We cooperate with valid requests from law-enforcement and regulatory authorities. To protect our clients, we only act on requests that follow proper legal process and meet the requirements below.
Requests should be sent to support@ellington-ltd.com. Requests sent through other routes cannot be processed. A valid request should:
We will verify the authenticity of a request before responding. For cross-border requests, further legal process (such as a mutual legal assistance treaty request) may be required. Where we are legally able to, we will notify the affected client before disclosing their information, so that they can seek advice; we will not do so where the law or a valid order prohibits it.
On receipt of a valid preservation request connected to an official investigation, we will take reasonable steps to preserve the relevant records for a limited period pending formal legal process. We disclose only the data specified in valid process and that we are reasonably able to locate; we cannot act on overly broad or vague requests. We may also publish, from time to time, general information about the volume of requests we receive, where it is lawful to do so.
We process personal data in order to provide the Services, to meet our legal and regulatory obligations, and to protect our legitimate interests, as fully described in our Privacy Policy. That document explains what we collect, the legal bases we rely on, who we share data with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have — including the right to withdraw consent where we rely on it.
We and our analytics providers use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, and understand how the Services are used. You can manage non-essential cookies through our cookie settings or your browser, though some features may not work without them. For the full detail, please see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
We may revise these documents to reflect changes in our Services, technology, or legal and regulatory requirements. We will show the "last updated" date on each document and, for material changes, give reasonable advance notice before they take effect. Changes will not be applied retroactively to your disadvantage. If you do not agree to a change, you may close your account and withdraw your available funds before it takes effect.
